The Haliburton Highlands Trails and Tours Network is pleased to introduce the first ever “Driving Audio Tour” in the County of Haliburton. Adventure seekers will drive to four of the counties Hidden Gems, each with its own history & exciting activities. The four Hidden Gems include the Historic Hawk Lake Log Chute, the Minden Wildwater Preserve, the Geocaching Capital of Canada and the Ganaraska Trail. All activities take place outdoors & can include Geocaching (Treasure Hunting), swimming, white-water and/or flat-water kayaking and/or canoeing, fishing, hiking, picnicking & even conquering the “Blairhampton Triangle”.

February 29, 2008 - Workshop Wrap-Up - Snowshoe The Highlands With Us! What a Great Time! The weather couldn't have been better! The Trails & Tours Network is excited to announce that the 2008 Workshop Series has started off with a BANG! We had a lovely group join Randy Moratz Saturday, February 23rd, 2008 at the Delta Pinestone Resort.
This exciting day included an hour-long introduction to snowshoeing where the group learnt the history of snowshoes and the pros and cons of the various styles. Most of the lesson was spent on their snowshoes learning and practicing how to manoeuvre around and/or over obstacles such as stumps, creeks, etc. After their lesson the group enjoyed a delicious hot lunch at the Heatherwood.
Once their bellies where full and their energy was restored they hit the Resort's Snowshoe Trail where they had the opportunity to glimpse into the wonderful world of the critters of Haliburton. They saw tracks left by weasels, deer and even a foraging fox.
Trails and Tours would like to thank the Delta Pinestone Resort for allowing us access to their beautiful trails and for providing our participants with rental equipment as well as the Heatherwood for the delicious lunch.
Thanks also goes out to Ben Carnochan of The County Voice for attending the workshop and for his wonderful write up in the Voice.
Last but not least thank you to Randy Moratz for guiding the workshop and to Andrew Legge for his beautiful photos.
The 2008 Workshop Series will be held year round so if you would like to put on a workshop or have any suggestions for other workshops please feel free to contact Tegan at tmoratz@trailsandtours.com
For more information about upcoming workshops, events and/or about Experience Haliburton Packages phone Trails and Tours at 705-489-4049 or email us at info@trailsandtours.com
